Gardening

Vermiculite was well introduced as a growth medium. Most commonly used in composts, usually in combination with peat. Compost with vermiculite / peat or coconut fiber creates ideal conditions for plant growth.

Vermiculite particles in compost improve aeration, hold moisture and promote the constant release of fertilizer added and vermiculite itself supplies potassium, magnesium and many trace elements. Ratio of the air / water ideally stimulates the growth of roots and therefore the production of healthy young plants. Vermiculite is sterile after treatment. If properly stored, it does not require any additional treatment before it is added to the compost. Ground vermiculite is also used for encapsulating seed.

Exfoliated vermiculite can also be used as packaging material for storing fruit, onions and tubers.
